Mission Statement

The Elk County Voter Registration and Elections Office goal is to assure that the election process is conducted with integrity, efficiency, and accuracy in the voter registration and election process.  The Department is responsible for maintaining and updating voter registration records for over 21,000 voters for the County of Elk.  The department also oversees conducting and preparing for Primaries and General Elections to be held in and for the County. The office also provides petitions for potential candidates to circulate and attain the required amount of signatures to be placed on the primary ballot for the office they wish to run. To be eligible to run for an elected position, a potential candidate must be 18 years of age and a resident of the county and/or township for the office they are seeking. There are two elections held annually in the county, the primary in the Spring and the general election in November. On average, each election costs the county approximately $65,000. Voter registration applications can be obtained through a variety of sources, the most common being from the county elections/voter registration office, through PennDOT at the driver license center, or through Pennsylvania's Department of State website.
