Job Position: 9-1-1 Telecommunicator (Bargaining Position)
Job Description: Receives, evaluates, prioritizes and directs emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, emergency medical services and other public safety and crisis intervention calls for two counties to the appropriate public safety agency, municipal agency or county agency. Serves to protect life and property by assuming Incident Command, continuing to gather and relay relevant information, utilize pre-planned Police, EMS & Fire response system procedures or talking a caller through direct medical intervention procedures until responders arrive safely on scene while continuing to monitor radios, answer phones, interact with the media maintain orderly radio traffic, make calls for field units and maintain order in the Communication Center.
Job Requirements: Applicants must have excellent typing skills and be fluent with the use of computers. Potential candidates must have the ability to work in high stress situations and work well with a team. Potential candidates must possess a clear firm voice with no speech, hearing or visual impairments that would interfere with being understood or the ability to understand incoming communications. Potential candidates will be required to pass a test that is designed to measure these skills as well as skills in multitasking, and geographical knowledge
Due to the nature of the position only candidates with a clear criminal history and background check will be considered.
Starting Salary: $12.31/Hr. (+10% Shift Differential 3p-11p & 11p-7a)
