If you currently have a permit you will
receive a
renewal application and instructions mailed to you within 30-60 days of
the expiration of your license to carry firearms. If you are
unable to locate the renewal application, contact our office at (814)
776-5353 and another will be mailed to you. The application listed
below is for new applicants only.

The Elk
County Sheriff's Office is responsible for processing all
applications for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms. This license
allows a person to carry a concealed weapon on their person or in a
motor vehicle. The licenses are issued to persons who qualify, based on
a background investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office,
within 45 days of the filing of the application. The license is valid
for a period of 5 years. The license may be revoked at anytime for
reasons of misuse or criminal activity. Applications
for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms may be obtained on-line,
(see forms below) or by coming into the Sheriff's Office on
the 1st floor of the Elk County Courthouse during our normal business
hours of 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday-Friday, excluding
holidays.

- Applicant must be an Elk County resident and 21 years of
age.
- Applicant must have a current PA driver's license or PA
identification card.
- Fee for photo license is $25.00.
- If you are not a resident of Pennsylvania, you must
provide us with the following: a copy of your permit
in the state you reside, a copy of your driver's license and
a detailed letter as to why you are applying in Elk County.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. excluding holidays. The following are
Saturdays that the Sheriff's Office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. Please use the rear entrance of the Courthouse, as
this will be the only door open on a Saturday.
