The Elk County Recorder of Deeds Office's primary mission is to Record , Protect and Reproduce legal documents (such as deeds, mortgages, marriage licenses, wills, etc.) that relate to real estate in Elk County and act as a collecting agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, local School Districts and Municipalities for Real Estate Transfer Taxes. All document records since 1843, except for Military Discharges, are available for public inspection. The Recorder's staff is ready to help anyone who comes to the office seeking information.
*** NEW *** Please leave a 1 inch top margin on all pages of your documents - we've recently implemented an automatic stamping system for our documents and we do not want to overwrite any of your document text.
DID YOU KNOW --- You can search most all of Elk County's deeds online?
Of course, you are welcome to search in our office using our public terminals, but you can also search from the comfort of your home or office.
Currently deeds from 1864 to the present are searchable online. The deeds prior to 1864 will need to be searched in our office at this time.
You can access the deeds by clicking here: Elk County Online Deed Search. If you log in as a guest, some information will be blacked out (redacted). If you setup an online account with a credit card, you will be able to save a copy or print the document and it will not be redacted. Prices are the same as in our office, 50 cents per page. If you have any questions regarding the online deed search, you can chat with our vendor by clicking on the "LIVE CHAT" button at the bottom of your screen; or you can email our vendor at This email address is being protected from spambots.
